Project Description
As part of a Product Development Bootcamp Workshop in 2017, we developed the vision of a novel hotel booking platform together with two founders. The concept aims to offer hoteliers a significantly more cost-effective alternative to established booking platforms by implementing an innovative business model that fundamentally changes the commission structures of the industry. After the successful conception phase, we took over parts of the design development as well as the technical implementation. The focus was on creating a user-friendly, high-performance platform that offers an optimal user experience for both hoteliers and end customers. The developed solution is characterized by its technical sophistication: A modern frontend based on Angular/TypeScript provides a responsive, intuitive user interface, while the backend based on NestJS/TypeScript with PostgreSQL database ensures stability, scalability and performance. Special attention was paid to the integration of various external services, including payment processing, hotel information systems and CRM functionalities. Since launch, the platform has been continuously developed and optimized, using the latest technologies and best practices.

Challenge
The central challenge was to develop a technically demanding platform that can compete with established providers while implementing a completely novel business model. At the same time, an architecture had to be created that guarantees the highest performance, scalability and reliability - essential in the highly competitive hotel booking market.
Solution
Based on the insights from the Product Development Bootcamp, we developed a modern, modular architecture with clear separation of frontend and backend. The choice of TypeScript as a consistent language enabled consistent development processes and excellent code quality. The implementation of robust CI/CD pipelines and comprehensive test automation ensured a high quality standard from the very beginning.
Results
The platform has been successfully in operation since 2017 and is continuously being developed further. The innovative business model enables hoteliers to benefit from significantly better conditions than with established booking platforms. The technical architecture has proven to be future-proof and allows for quick adaptations to new market requirements.
