We developed an innovative platform for a Munich startup that is designed to connect seniors with their families. At the heart of the solution is a specially designed senior tablet through which elderly family members such as grandparents can be easily and conveniently reached via video call. The platform is managed and set up by the younger family members. The Android app on the tablet was specially developed for seniors or people with disabilities, with all functions being easily added via the family backend - depending on the individual abilities of the seniors or people with disabilities. Particularly innovative is the integration of an AI assistant specifically designed for long conversations with elderly people, which can reduce loneliness. The solution helps to strengthen intergenerational connections and improve the quality of life for elderly people.

Challenge
The biggest challenge was to develop a technology that is intuitively usable for people with low technical affinity and possibly limited motor or cognitive abilities. At the same time, the platform had to be robust, reliable and secure to meet both the needs of seniors and the requirements of caring relatives.
Solution
We developed a particularly user-friendly Android application that runs on specially configured tablets. The user interface was optimized in extensive tests with the target group to ensure maximum simplicity while maintaining functionality. For family members, we created a powerful backend system that enables easy management of content and functions.
Results
The platform has significantly improved communication between family members of different generations. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the solution proved to be a valuable tool to prevent isolation. The AI assistant has proven particularly valuable as it can provide company to seniors independently of family availability.
The platform developed by Elasticbrains has fundamentally changed the way we stay connected with our elderly family members. The ease of use and the thoughtful features have convinced even the least tech-savvy users.
